I have to admit I was a little puzzled when I first saw the assignment this week.
Then, with Lynn's help I realized all I had to do was take pictures of things that
really interested me. So that was how I approached it. I just went after subjects that interested me outside of photography.
I hope everyone enjoyed this assignment as much as I did. Thanks again Lynn, excellent idea, :-) IF I got it right...If not, I had fun anyway....... :-)

Something I developed a real passion for this year was photographing Eagles...I took this shot last week with a 500 mm lens and the photo is cropped to about 90%. It was shot at 1/250 f/6 and ISO 400 spot metering

Since most of the eagles have left the area except for a few nesting pairs, I've become fascinated with all kinds of nature photography. This Heron was in our Creek this morning and the early morning sun made for great colors as he took off..
I used a 300mm lens f/5.6 1/250 ISO 1250 Spot metering

This of course is what really has taken up my time since I retired last November. I've always enjoyed photography but since Lynn formed this group, I've really gotten involved and it truly has become an obsession. I seldom leave the house now without my camera equipment

Anyone who knows me knows I have another hobby that takes a great deal of my time during the summer. These next few pictures focus on that hobby.

We took a train trip several years ago
to California, and after returning home I was obsessed with recreating a model train depicting that trip. Yes, I developed yet another obsession. The Amtrak train on the left is actually identical to the one we were on, including our sleeper car.

The car above is a model of the observation car on that train.
taken at 55mm f/5.6 1/250 ISO400

Since we passed numerous coal trains on our trip I had to add a coal train to my layout.
