Things beginning with A

This was a no-brainer for me since the past week, I've been involved with our Air Show. So I didn't have much choice but to choose airplanes as my subject
I apologize for not having more varied subject matter. But airplanes is all I saw for the past week.....
Picture #1 ISO   200 lens was a 70-300 mm shot at 145 mm
f number  was 4.8 shot at 1/640 auto focus set at Continuous
 #2 300mm f 5.6  1/1000 ISO 200 auto focus continuous
 #3 300mm f 5.6   ISO 100 1/640 auto focus continous
 #4 300mm  f8  ISO 200 1/1000 auto focus continuous
 #5  150mm ISO 100  1/800  f/5

  1. HI Mark. They are all so good, I have to pick two as favorites. #6 and I must say I Really Like, extra picture! I like the way you were able to capture the take off. What a great week you must have had !

  4. I'm just glad you chose the subject Sis :-) had it been anything but A, I would have been stumped..... lol I have a photgrapher friend, who I shot with on Thursday and he had some excellent advice which I used the rest of the weekend.....mainly continuous focus and fast shutter speeds........also increasing my ISO from 100

  5. Wow Marky,
Fabulous set of pics. All well lit, all in focus, all stopped dead, all colorful, and all so much going on in each shot. Hard to shoot against a bright sky without losing something but these are balanced except the tail dragger at the end washed out. Look at your skies.
Composition on the flag shot is sweet. Wish I was home to see them.
#2 gives me the chills. I love it. So much going on--low pass--high speed--afterburners lit-heat waves captured. It's like getting the steam off a cup of coffee only way better.

  6. Very impressive, Mark- I know you used a very fast shutter speed, but how were you able to compose so quickly?! It's not like they posed for you, but you really took some beautifully composed pictures. My husband was in the Air Force and we've been to many an air show with boxes of attempts to show the amazing power and majesty, but have never accomplished what you did- great job!

  7. Thanks Amy. A lot, if not all the credit gies tobthe camera. What you're not seeing, and I won't show you, are the other 30 or so shots in the series that aren't composed. Lol I set my focus to auto, continuous, with center weighted focus and shot @8 frames per second trying to keep the aurcraft centered in the viewfinder. Sometimes it worked, more often I had half a plane. L
